Welcome to Team Celia's Our PanCAN PurpleStride Team (Chicago Branch) Fundraising Page.

In August 2015, Celia Woerner -- the matriarch of a family that stretches from Florida to California (where she lives) -- was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Surprising no one who knows her, nine years later -- formidable force that she is -- she is still fighting.

She has been through multiple rounds of surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and most recently, a new pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March of 2024.

This is the Chicago branch of our family's fundraising page to support her, to recognize her determination, her grace, and quite frankly, her toughness, and to join with the pancreatic cancer community's efforts to contribute to research for a cure.

We have been very, very lucky for every moment God has given us with Celia on her survivor journey, and very, very thankful for the care she has received from the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. We are just as acutely aware that not every cancer patient has the same set of blessings, and so we honor everyone in this fight by encouraging you to give generously.

Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
